When Quirky meets Yummy: The Bar Terminal Review

Hello love,
I hope your week is going great with you achieving your daily goals successfully. If that is not the case and you are still stuck in your procrastination mood, lemme help you out with it. I suggest that, Go and procrastinate in a cooler place like The Bar Terminal, Mumbai, with good food & drinks. Give yourself the time to think about your ‘goals’. *Hehe, shameless promos*

So, today’s post is about this quirky, neat place. It is located above the Spices & Flavours Restaurant, next to the BSE building in Mumbai and it’s a one of a kind restro-bar. The Bar Terminal has a peppy vibe- perfect for you and your friends to chill & have a blast. Let’s discuss it’s components one by one.

The Interior

The décor is quirky, vibrant and colorful. Many of the design elements are recycled or up-cycled: Heinz cans appear as sconces, wooden sieves as light fixtures, old tires are converted into chairs and paper-napkin dispensers are made with computer keyboards. The whole bar counter is made up of stacked up colorful plastic crates which look wonderful from the overlooking seating area.

Clearly, a lot of attention has been given to the decor and I personally, would give full marks for the ambiance. The place has a very different vibe to it – perfect for people to unwind. The place has a chic-yet-rustic charm to it. It’s a shutterbug’s paradise as every part of the bar is unique on its own. The music played here is quite peppy and the sound system was well placed. There is also a separate part present in the TBT, which has been kept for private parties.

Drinks

The main star of the TBT is definitely their “mixology” menu. The menu is well thought out and innovative, keeping in mind the choices of everybody who walks into TBT. It’s a mix of light drinks and heavy drinks and surprisingly, a long list of mock tails too. I tried a few based on the recommendations of others and honestly, the drinks are quite impactful, both on your taste buds as well as your brain!

My favorite was the Jack Sparrow- a concoction of dark rum, jaggery syrup and lime juice. The drink is served in a barrel and has a long lasting effect on your taste buds.

The Second drink which we tried was the Smoked Berry (in this case Smoked Kiwi)- a mix of tequila, fresh kiwis and dry ice. I personally am a fan of cocktails which aren’t too strong and have a sweety taste. So, a 5/5 rating for this concoction here.

Food

Coming to the food, the food and drinks menu is quite extensive especially for a pub. There were many interesting dishes which caught my attention like the Paneer Tikka Lasagne or the Pizza Puchkas. The Jugaad and Nashta snacks were the most fascinating on the food menu. It is basically, a mix of Indian street food with a twist, and many fusion dishes.

For starters, I ordered for the Mac n Cheese cupcakes, the Pizza Puchkas and the Cigar Rolls.

The Mac n cheese cupcake, which was essentially the classic mac n cheese served in the form of cupcake, was quite delectable with cheese oozing out of the cupcake with every bite you take.

I personally, found that the Pizza Puchkas were decent. Somehow, the pizza toppings didn’t really go very well with the puris, and also the overall dish seemed pretty dry. It can be a great dish if only some spicy saucy toppings are added too. However, kudos to the TBT team for trying out something completely new!

The Cigar Rolls was my favorite pick. It is a perfect combination of Risotto Cheese & Spicy Paneer stuffed inside the crispy exterior.

I couldn’t try more food dishes as me and my friends were running out of time. However, here are some of the main course dishes which I recommend you to try:

Ultimate Cheese Fondue

Pizza Al- Vodka

Classic Alfredo and the Arabiatta (Pastas)

Overall, it’s an interesting place for one to explore. If you are working hard throughout the week, and want to unwind with some drinks and a couple of friends, head to this place today. TBT is open on all days in the evening and also in the afternoon. See what I did again? *hehe, shameless promos*

The overall understatement of TBT is:” Alcohol: because no good story ever started with a salad.”

I’ll see next time with another fun posts. Please like, share & comment if you think this is worth it.
