and dance on May’s blossoming bounty.
Every spring, butterflies emerge and dazzle the world with their vibrant beauty. But where do butterflies come from? How are they born? What do they eat, and how?
Presenting to you, a Spring LookBook from SBuys . This story is narrated as a journey to Spring of a butterfly. Only this butterfly has imaginary wings and can change the color of those wings whenever she wants.
The first Stage: Still in an egg shell of winters
It is hard to say goodbye to the sweater weather. Oversized hoodies, hot cocoa and an all time excuse of staying in bed by saying, “but baby it’s cold outside.” are few of my favorite things about winter. But then, I see the little flowers blooming and the sun being out for longer hours and I know that it is time to change the colors & style of my wings.
Here, wings signify clothes. I think our clothes have immense power on making us feel vibrant & playful aka giving us wings or just making us feel plain trapped.
Just like how butterflies place their egg on a leaf. I, entering my first stage to welcome spring add colors to my wardrobe. Wearing a colorful plaid skirt from SBUYS with a turtleneck black top H&M and black kitten heels ALDO.
The plaid skirt reminded me of the fashion from the movie CLUELESS. To be honest, this look is a style steal from RACHEL GREEN from FRIENDS. The difference is that she was wearing a white turtleneck top with a red, white & black plaid skirt. I loved this look and opted to give it a twist in my own way.
The Second Stage: Caterpillar
It is springtime, it is springtime
Winter’s gone, winter’s gone
In this stage, the little butterfly has bid adieu to winter. When the egg hatches, a caterpillar comes out and all it does is eat to prep for the full blow.Here too, this butterfly is now prepping for spring in full blow. Collecting pieces for her wardrobe and playing by styling her wings.
In this look, I played with boho & 70s trends. Wearing a white top with crotched lace detailing on the bell sleeves, from SBUYS with denim shorts and a jacket, from FOREVER21. I layered it with three statement neckpieces to add that boho vibe. The accessories are thrift shopped from Colaba Market. I likey being comfortable, hence I wore my sneakers with floral print on it, from Levis, with this look.
The Third Stage: Pupa & the excitement
The pupa stage is one of the coolest stages of a butterfly’s life. As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa. From the outside of the pupa, it looks as if the caterpillar may just be resting, but the inside is where all of the action is. Inside of the pupa, the caterpillar is rapidly changing.
Here, this little butterfly is all ready to show off the world her wing styles for Spring/Summer. She is currently playing it cool in her pastels. Dancing around and beaming in excitement for the coolers, green grass, bees humming and the sun beams.
Wearing a pastel blue front knotted top from SBUYS with a darker tone of blue from FROEVER21. Keeping the look simple and fresh, I teamed it with a pair of nude pumps from ALDO. I accessorized this look with again, some boho and 70s vibes. How? I wore these silver statement earrings and showed off my 70s inspired Peace sign tattoo.
The Fourth Stage: Butterflying into Summers
Finally, the last stage when the butterfly comes out of the pupa and spreads it’s wings wide.
Our butterfly too has accepted the spring and is already out in the field with her colorful wings. She is now on the lookout for Summer.
Wearing high waisted, floral print shorts from SBUYS with a black crop top from KOOVS. Tans and nude accessories are always a good idea for spring fashion. Since our spring wear is mostly floral-y or colorful, neutral shade accessories help in giving it a finishing look. I teamed this look with a tan bag thrift shopped from Fashion Street, Bandra and orange wedges from ZARA
