Love & Levi’s | 501® Day – The Gypsy Panda

When I say Jeans! What brand pops up in your head first, of course, it is Levis. You must already be owning a pair (or two or three or multiples) of Levi’s iconic 501 jeans.But do you really know the amount of history and beauty your staple pair has? To make yourself aware, check out the video above! The brand has created a fascinating documentary series called The 501 Jean: Stories of an Original, which chronicles the jeans’ rise in popularity from the 1940s to the present day. Everyone from Erin Wasson to Steven Alan make cameos in the film, and it’s full of fascinating tidbits that explain the 501s’ cultural, technological, and historical context.

20th of May 2017, this iconic brand turned 144th and it was celebrated worldwide.

I was lucky enough to be a part of the birthday celebration of Levis in Mumbai, India. The party was held at Razzberry Rhinoceros in Juhu Hotel. It began around 5:30 and the dances, music, party, swirling of good vibes went on till night! The event was graced with music performances from artists like: Mosko, Sid Vashi, Aswekeepsearching, Autograf and for the first time ever in India: Newton Faulkner!

The biggest names in the content generation world: Bhuvam Bam, Bowtiesandbones, were there too!

It was a perfect day. And oh, there was a denim customisation station too.

Levis is fiercely committed to maintaining and reinforcing the authenticity. The secret to the longevity of Levi’s actually isn’t a secret at all. The company uses classic brand-building principles to maintain and grow its brand equity. These are fundamental ideals that remain the keys to building a brand with staying power.

Levis was rocked back then by my parents (year 1989)

I rock it now and I am pretty sure my kids will be doing the same. Levis was the first pair of jeans I ever bought.

To celebrate the 144th year of 501 Jeans, Levis introduced 501 Skinny to the tribe. Levi’s are also releasing a capsule collection that pays tribute to the design’s history of timeless reinvention. Focussing on the 501′s legacy of repair and customisation, the collection features a battered, torn pair of 501s for men, complete with doodles, patches and prints, a denim vest, adopting a similarly scruffy, punk vibe, and finally a pair of women’s cut-off shorts that feature a hand-drawn snake illustration.
